What We Recycle
Cairns Recycling accepts all eligible drink containers for refund. Most plastic and glass bottles, as well as drink cartons, cans and pouches, that are 150ml to 3L are accepted. These containers will have a clearly marked 10c icon on the label.
This includes:
- Most single-serve water and fizzy drink containers up to and including 3L.
- Most single-serve alcohol containers, like beer bottles and pre-mixed spirits.
- Flavoured milk containers that are 150ml to 999ml. Coconut water, pure fruit, or vegetable juice containers that are 150ml to 999ml.
(Please note, some states vary with eligibility criteria).
Excluded Container Types
While we’re able to recycle many different beverage containers, there are some container types that are not eligible for a refund. Generally, excluded containers are those that are the wrong volume. We cannot accept containers less than 150ml or greater than 3L.
Containers we cannot recycle:
- Plain milk containers of all sizes including plant-based milk substitutes
- Containers 1L or more that contained flavoured milk, pure fruit or vegetable juice, cask wine or cask water
- Concentrated/undiluted cordial or syrup containers
- Sachets above 250ml that have contained wine
- Registered health tonics
- Glass Jam & Food Jars
- Coffee Cups
