Start a community recycling initiative or simply drop off your containers at any of our centres across Far North Queensland, including Smithfield, Portsmith, Mareeba, Bentley Park, and Gordonvale. You’ll earn 10 cents per eligible item, paid straight to your bank—or choose to support a local school, charity, or community group through the Containers for Change program. Quick and effecient for return of bottles and cans. A particpant of the Governments 10c bottle and can recycle program. Easy access, relatively clean( as an outdoor operation of this style could be.) Helpful staff. I imagine certain days and weekends would be extremely busy here, as it is a smaller operation, set in a growing region.

How It Works
Getting started with community recycling is easy — and impactful. First, create a free Containers for Change member number. Then, choose how your supporters can donate:
- Share your member number so donations can be made at any refund point across Queensland.
- Become a donation location by setting up a bin at your site and dropping off containers at one of our centres.
- Partner with Cairns Recycling, and we’ll support you with collection bins, logistics, and processing to help you raise more, with less hassle.
Just 10 containers can help Foodbank Queensland provide two nutritious meals. And with hundreds of registered charities available, it’s easy to support a cause close to your heart—just by recycling.

Earn or Donate
When you’ve saved up enough beverage containers, bring them in to any of our recycle centres and let us know how you’d like to be paid. We offer 10 cents per container, paid through vouchers, cash or your member number. A member number allows us to make an EFT to your bank account or PayPal. You can also nominate an ID for a local business, community group or charity and we’ll donate your refund there instead. Get started today!
