Terms & Conditions – Cairns Recycling Can… Spot, Tag, Post to Win! $1,000 Cash Prize Draw
1. Promoter
The promoter is Palm Tree Recycling Pty Ltd, trading as Cairns Recycling (“Promoter”).
2. Promotion
The Cairns Recycling Can… Spot, Tag, Post to Win! promotion (“Promotion”) gives eligible participants the opportunity to win $1,000 AUD in cash.
Participants can enter by spotting the Cairns Recycling novelty promotional can and vehicle, taking a photograph and posting it to Facebook or Instagram in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
An additional last-chance entry opportunity will be available at the grand opening of Cairns Recycling’s new Bentley Park depot on Saturday, 7 November 2026. Eligible participants who complete a qualifying refund transaction for eligible drink containers during the specified event period may receive a last-chance entry into the same prize draw.
3. Promotion Period
The Promotion commences on Monday 26th October 2026, 8am and closes at 11:30am Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on Saturday, 7 November 2026, subject to the specific entry deadlines set out below.
Social media entries must be submitted during the Promotion Period and in accordance with Section 5.
Last-chance entries must be earned and recorded between 9:00 am and 11:30am, before the prize draw at 12 pm AEST on Saturday, 7 November 2026, in accordance with Section 6.
The grand opening and last-chance entry opportunity will take place at:
Cairns Recycling Bentley Park depot – 21 Supply Road, Bentley Park QLD 4868.
4. Eligibility
The Promotion is open to Australian residents, subject to these Terms & Conditions.
Entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian where required by law. A parent or legal guardian may be required to assist with identity verification and prize collection.
Employees of the Promoter who are directly involved in administering the Promotion, and their immediate family members, are ineligible to enter.
The Promoter reserves the right to request reasonable proof of identity, age and eligibility before awarding the prize.
5. How to Enter — Social Media Entries
To enter the Promotion via social media, participants must:
- Spot the Cairns Recycling novelty promotional can or Cairns Recycling-branded promotional vehicle around Cairns.
- Safely take a photograph of the can or vehicle without putting themselves or others at risk, obstructing traffic or entering restricted areas.
- Post the photograph to Facebook or Instagram during the Promotion Period.
- Follow and tag Cairns Recycling’s official Facebook or Instagram account in accordance with the entry instructions published on Cairns Recycling’s official Facebook page. – ensuring that your social account settings are of public visibility.
Each valid qualifying social media post counts as one entry.
There is no limit to the number of valid social media entries a participant may submit. Each entry must independently satisfy these Terms & Conditions and the published competition entry requirements.
Participants must follow the required entry process for each entry. Entries that are incomplete, invalid, fraudulent or otherwise fail to meet the entry requirements may be disqualified.
6. Last-Chance Entry — Grand Opening
Participants have an additional opportunity to enter the Promotion at the Cairns Recycling, Bentley Park depot, grand opening on Saturday, 7 November 2026.
The last-chance entry opportunity is open to eligible participants whether or not they have previously entered the social media competition.
To qualify for a last-chance entry, participants must:
- Attend Cairns Recycling’s Bentley Park depot at 21 Supply Road, Bentley Park QLD 4868, during the eligible period.
- Bring eligible drink containers and complete a qualifying refund transaction through the depot.
- Place your name and contact information onto the refund docket, placing this into the entry prize box
- Complete the transaction between 9:00 am and, 11:30am, before the prize draw at 12:00 pm AEST on Saturday, 7 November 2026.
Participants must allow sufficient time for their transaction to be processed and their entry recorded before 11:30am cut off, as prize will be drawn at midday.
Transactions completed after the draw has taken place will not qualify for a last-chance entry.
The standard refund payable for eligible drink containers is separate from the $1,000 cash prize. Completing a qualifying refund transaction provides eligibility for a last-chance entry but does not guarantee a prize.
7. Prize
There is one prize of $1,000 AUD in cash.
The total prize pool is $1,000 AUD.
The prize is not transferable or exchangeable for another prize, product or service, except where required by law.
The prize will be awarded to the verified winner in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
8. Prize Draw
The winner will be selected by random draw from all valid entries received through the eligible entry methods during the Promotion Period.
Eligible entries include:
- Valid social media entries submitted in accordance with Section 5.
- Valid last-chance entries earned through qualifying refund transactions and recorded in accordance with Section 6.
The draw will take place as follows:
Date: Saturday, 7 November 2026
Time: 12:00 pm AEST
Location: Cairns Recycling Bentley Park depot, 21 Supply Road, Bentley Park QLD 4868.
All eligible entries must be received or recorded before the draw takes place.
The Promoter will conduct the draw fairly and in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and applicable law.
9. Winner Notification and Announcement
The winner will be notified using the contact details or social media account associated with their entry.
The winner may also be announced on the participating radio station and on Cairns Recycling’s official Facebook and Instagram pages.
10. Prize Collection
The winner must satisfy the Promoter’s reasonable identity and eligibility verification requirements before receiving the prize.
The Promoter will provide instructions for collecting or receiving the cash prize.
Unless otherwise agreed by the Promoter, the prize may be collected from Cairns Recycling’s Bentley Park depot at 21 Supply Road, Bentley Park QLD 4868.
Any additional arrangements will be communicated directly to the winner.
11. Invalid Entries
The Promoter reserves the right to reject or disqualify entries that:
- Are incomplete, fraudulent, misleading or submitted outside the applicable entry period.
- Do not comply with the entry requirements in these Terms & Conditions.
- Are not supported by the required qualifying photograph, social media actions or refund transaction, as applicable.
- Contain unlawful, offensive or inappropriate material.
- Have been submitted in breach of these Terms & Conditions.
The Promoter will exercise its discretion reasonably and in accordance with applicable law.
12. Social Media and Radio Disclaimer
This Promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram.
Participants release Facebook and Instagram from responsibility for the Promotion to the extent permitted by law.
The participating radio station and its promotional team are assisting with the Promotion and are not the promoter unless expressly stated otherwise.
13. Privacy
The Promoter may collect personal information reasonably necessary to administer the Promotion, verify entries, contact the winner and award the prize.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and the Promoter’s privacy policy.
By entering, participants acknowledge that their personal information may be used for the purposes of administering the Promotion. Any additional use of personal information for marketing purposes will be subject to applicable consent and privacy requirements.
14. General Conditions
The Promoter reserves the right to vary, suspend or cancel the Promotion where reasonably necessary due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, subject to applicable law and any required regulatory approval.
The Promoter will not exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed or not received due to technical issues outside its reasonable control, subject to applicable law.
15. Applicable Laws
The Promotion will be conducted in accordance with applicable Queensland laws and other applicable Australian laws, including the Australian Consumer Law.
The Promoter is responsible for confirming whether any permits, approvals or other regulatory requirements apply to the Promotion before it commences.
16. Acceptance of Terms
By entering the Promotion, participants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
