What containers can I cash in?

Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a 10-cent refund. Containers which have held milk, wine, undiluted cordial, pure spirits or syrup may not be eligible. Learn more about container eligibility here.
What is Containers for Change?

Containers for Change is a community recycling initiative that was introduced by the Queensland Government. Under the scheme, eligible containers can be exchanged for a 10-cent refund.

What happens when containers are recycled?

Containers are sorted, crushed and baled before being distributed to be recycled. Soft plastics can be made into polyester fibres which are used to make clothing, carpets and other fabrics. Metal containers are melted down to produce steel sheets that can be used in building construction.
